Writing Associates are available for In-person Appointments, Online Appointments, and eTutoring Appointments. Our goal is to help students improve their writing skills. To that end, Writing Associates will help you identify significant issues with content or recurring patterns of error in your writing, and explain how to fix them rather than editing or rewriting your draft.

Online Appointments take place through WCOnline in real time, meaning you will join the appointment at the scheduled time and work with the Writing Associate through live chat, using some combination of video, audio, and text exchange. An Online Appointment is recommended for any stage of the writing process including drafting, revising, and final edits. You should schedule an Online Appointment especially if you are working on the outlining stage, essay development or argument evidence, or if you need to talk through ideations or brainstorming, or if you are concerned about clarity in your writing.

With an eTutoring Appointment, the review and editing process will be conducted asynchronously, utilizing only the document upload feature for your appointment. Schedule an eTutoring Appointment for review of sentence level concerns, such as sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, mechanics, or grammar. At this point, your work should need just one last read through but is well developed. Please leave comments within your document or highlight sections you want to work on specifically. Writing Associates attempt to review your paper and provide feedback in approximately 24 hours, spending one hour reviewing your paper—typically allowing them to work through about 6 pages.

***The preferred document type to upload is a Word document***
